The working farm “Il Castello” lies at the heart of Mount Subasio natural park, perched about 2,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by unspoilt scenery.

Amidst this landscape you can spend days masked by peace and relaxation, in contact with nature. Indeed, you will see wildlife such as wild boar, hare, fox, squirrel and pheasant amongst other species of birds.

Owned by the Fortini family, Il Castello is a place which brings together the traditional and the modern. The 13th century farmhouse has been completely renovated and offers our guests complete comfort with all modern conveniences. Here you can eat the tasty traditional Umbrian cookery of mamma Nunzia, which she prepares with passion and love using our home grown produce such as oil, wine, vegetables, pulses and valuable truffles.

Our professionalism ensures that you will enjoy a friendly reception and great hospitality, reflecting the kindness of the place.

The working farm “Il Castello” is an ideal place for a holiday in touch with nature, far away from noise and chaos. Here you can relax, take long walks along the paths marked by the Italian Alpine Club and visit wonderful cities, rich in art like Assissi (4 kilometers away), Spello, Gubbio, Perugia, Todi and Orvieto.

Our rooms are housed in two separate buildings. There are six rooms in the original 13th century farmhouse with a further three rooms in our second building – two of which are suitable for the disabled and offer wonderful views over the valley. All of our rooms have their own bathroom together with telephone, television and central heating.

Cookery
Located on the ground floor, which used to be the stables and wine cellar, you will find our dining room in which you can sample our typical country cooking, with specialities including barbecue and spit-roasts.

During the summer, weather permitting, it is possible to eat al fresco in the courtyard in front of the main cottage.
